Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal looked delighted to officially open English Rural’s new housing development in the village of Bough Beech, Kent on Monday 15th September.
The £2.44 million scheme provides eight high-quality homes for affordable rent, directly addressing the pressing housing needs of local people. Not sure that eight new houses is really going to solve the housing crisis in the South-East, but the developers seem to be quite excited by it all. English Rural is a non-profit specialist provider of affordable rural homes and a leading advocate on rural housing issues.
The Princess Royal looked slightly more interested as she was given a tour of the new homes, met with residents, stakeholders, and community members, and heard first-hand how affordable housing solutions like this help keep villages vibrant and vital.
Martin Collett, CEO of English Rural said ‘It is an honour to welcome our patron HRH The Princess Royal to officially open our Millbrook development. This development is a testament to what can be achieved when communities, councils, and housing associations work together. These homes will allow local people to remain in the area they know and love, strengthening the fabric of rural life in Kent.’
