ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s services exports fell 6.82 percent from a year ago to 312.75 million US dollars in August 2025, led by decline in transport and logistics, the island’s Export Development Board said.
However, over the first eight months of the year, services exports are estimated to have increased 5.57 percent, totaling 2,221.63 million dollars.
ICT/BPM exports rose 6.43 percent to 147 million US dollars in August 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, and construction fell 28.24 percent to 9.71 million US dollars.
Financial services edged up 51 percent to a small volume of 3.59 million US dollars.
Transport and logistics declined 1606 percent to 152.46 million US dollars.
Up to August total exports of goods and services were 11,554.32 million US dollars, 6.61 percent higher than 10,837.97 million in the same period in the previous year. (Colombo/September 23/2025)
