Dangerous drivers were reported and cars were seized by officers tackling nuisance motorists in Swale after police conducted a road safety operation on Wednesday 25th February 2026.
Police patrols attended the Sittingbourne area to carry out checks following concerns raised about road safety in the vicinity.
During the day, a total of 13 traffic offence reports were given to drivers for offences such as mobile phone use at the wheel, having no insurance and not wearing a seatbelt.
Three vehicles were seized along with four e-scooters.
Officers carried out the checks in Sittingbourne town centre.
A car was stopped along Sheppey Way, Bobbing and found to have four children in the vehicle not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was issued a traffic offence report.
On the same road, officers stopped a car due to the manner of the driving and the driver was found to be in possession of cannabis. Jordan Norton, 36, from Cavell Way, Sittingbourne was arrested and later charged with possession of a class B drug. He is due to appear at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 1st June 2026.
Sergeant Craig Harris said ‘Road safety is a responsibility we all share, and these checks were carried out to protect everyone who uses our roads. The offences we dealt with are entirely avoidable, yet they put lives at risk every day.’
