St Augustine Academy in Maidstone is celebrating a highly positive Ofsted inspection outcome, with inspectors recognising the school’s inclusive culture, strong pastoral support and the improving quality of education being experienced by pupils.
The report highlights that “Pupils are well supported and cared for in this inclusive school” and praises the way leaders ensure pupils with additional needs are supported to access the curriculum successfully. Inspectors also recognised the strategic use of pupil premium funding, noting it enables disadvantaged pupils to benefit fully from the wider opportunities available at the school.
A particularly strong endorsement came in Ofsted’s recognition that “Pupils are proud to belong to the St Augustine Academy family,” with inspectors identifying community as central to the relationships between staff and students.
Principal Steffan Ball said “We are incredibly proud of this report because it reflects the experience we want every young person to have at St Augustine Academy — one where they feel safe, supported, valued and inspired to succeed. The inspection recognises the strength of our inclusive community, the dedication of our staff and the ambition we have for every pupil, particularly those who need us most. We are creating a wonderful student experience rooted in high expectations, opportunity and care, and it is gratifying to see that recognised by Ofsted.”
The report also highlights improvements in behaviour, attendance, personal development and the breadth of opportunities available to students, including enrichment activities, careers guidance and support for pupils with SEND.
While the report identifies areas for continued improvement, school leaders have welcomed the inspection as recognition of the significant progress being made and a strong foundation for the future.
Mr Ball added “This is a school moving forward with purpose. We remain ambitious for our pupils and committed to building on this momentum so every child can thrive.”
